The user's mental model for the video player on YouTube is that the user can pause and play the video, adjust the volume, save it for later, change the settings, and change how big the player is or make it full screen. The user can also change the place where they are in the video by clicking and dragging to where in the video they want to be. The users usually do not think about the programming behind this. They just do these actions because they are simply what they need to be able to do on this particular feature. This makes the users able to use this feature without having to research or read anything in order to use the video player.

The mental model would contrast with the implementation model of the programmers because the programmers know more than the typical user of YouTube. Many people would not understand how to use the features with the implementation model because they would be too difficult to understand and not designed for the normal users.
